Edmonton Tax Growth vs. Population and Inflation

The overall growth in requisitioned taxes in the City of Edmonton has far outpaced the combination of inflation and population growth in recent years. Between 2006-2016, population growth plus inflation increased by 50.5%, using federal census numbers for population and Stats Canada numbers for inflation. During the same time period, tax supported spending at the City of Edmonton more than doubled.

Prosperity Edmonton is calling on City Council to hold the line on property tax increases in its upcoming budget.
